Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (M.S.I.S.) Major in Interdisciplinary Studies

Major Program

The master of science in interdisciplinary studies (M.S.I.S.) degree with a concentration in occupation, workforce, and leadership studies is coordinated through the Department of Occupational, Workforce, and Leadership Studies. The interdisciplinary studies degree program is offered by the University and is not meant to replace any currently existing traditional program of study but does draw courses from other departments offering graduate-level work. The interdisciplinary studies degree is highly individualized and is designed to provide the adult with various course options. Application Requirements

The items listed below are required for admission consideration for applicable semesters of entry during the 2017-2018 academic year. Submission instructions, additional details, and changes to admission requirements for semesters other than the 2017-2018 academic year can be found on the program’s web page. International students should review the International Admission Documents section of the catalog for additional requirements.

Degree Requirements

The M.S.I.S. degree consists of a minimum of 39-hours. Degree requirements include an entry module (9 hours), an academic module (21 hours), and an exit module (9 hours). Do not register for any course without the prior approval of your graduate advisor.

Students are not required to complete the Entry Module first. Courses from any module may be taken in any order, with the exception as noted in the Exit Module. The Entry Module is designed to help the student develop skills relating to communication, human relations, and cultural understanding. Students may choose courses from the following departments: Adult Education (ADED), Career and Technology Education (CTE), Developmental Education (DE), Healthcare Human Resources (HHR), English (ENG), Psychology (PSY), and Sociology (SOCI).

The courses in the Exit Module are sequential. OCED 5300 is only offered during fall semesters. You may take Exit Module courses while also taking Entry or Academic Module courses.
