Texas State University offers a wide range of academic services designed to support student success and enhance their learning experience. These services are designed to foster academic excellence and support the diverse needs of TXST students.

  • Academic Engagement creates pathways to discover, create knowledge and pursue students finding their purpose. AE provides comprehensive support, academic intervention, and resources to ensure students reach their highest academic potential. This includes promoting student persistence and retention through high-impact practices such as peer mentoring, first-generation initiatives, and academic resiliency.
  • Athletic Academic Center: This center supports student-athletes in balancing their academic and athletic commitments. The AAC provides tutoring, mentoring, study hall, and academic advising to ensure athletes meet their academic goals while excelling in athletics.
  • Collaborative Learning Center (CLC): Located in Ingram Hall 3202, the CLC offers tutoring in math, engineering, and science on a first come, first serve basis. See our website for course tutoring times. The CLC Computer Lab has 25 computers equipped with various software programs used in College of Science and Engineering undergraduate courses.
  • Disability Services promotes equal access to all university programs and activities for students with disabilities. Students who need accommodation can register with the office.
  • Learning Assistants (LAs): LAs work alongside faculty to facilitate interactive and collaborative learning experiences in STEM courses, and staff walk-in Study Centers for supported courses. By helping students engage with course material through guided discussions and problem-solving activities, LAs enhance comprehension of material and student course outcomes.
  • Math CATS (Computer And Tutoring Service): Math CATS provides targeted support for students enrolled in math courses, offering tutoring, review sessions, and skill-building strategies. The service helps students build confidence in math and succeed in required coursework.
  • Peer Research Coaches: Peer Research Coaches assist students in navigating Alkek Library’s vast research resources. They provide guidance on finding credible sources, using databases, and structuring research projects, ensuring students develop strong information literacy skills.
  • Student Learning Assistance Center (SLAC): SLAC provides free tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, Success Coaching, and study resources to help students succeed in their courses. Whether through individual tutoring, workshops, or online resources, SLAC empowers students to develop strong study habits and achieve their academic goals.
  • Testing, Evaluation, and Measurement Center (TEMC): TEMC is dedicated to supporting students, faculty, and the community with testing and evaluation related needs. The TEMC offers a variety of services including test offerings for CLEP and other credit-by-exam options, TExES, TSIA, TEAS, accommodated testing, and hundreds of professional certifications.
  • University Writing Center (UWC): The UWC, with locations on the San Marcos and Round Rock campuses, helps students improve their writing skills across all disciplines. By conducting one-on-one consultations, both online and in-person, as well as leading workshops and providing online resources, the UWC assists with brainstorming, organization, grammar, and citation styles.
