Minor in Education

The minor in Education requires 21 semester credit hours and includes required education coursework for students seeking teaching certification for high school or all-level subject areas.

Students must declare a major in a subject area for which teacher certification is available to be eligible for this minor. The minor in Secondary Education is not available with all majors.

Students majoring in Studio Art can apply credit for ARTT 3372 to satisfy the CI 3325 requirement.

Students majoring in Dance can apply credit for DAN 2365 or DAN 3331 to satisfy the CI 3325 requirement.

Students majoring in Exercise and Sports Science can apply credit for ESS 4624 to satisfy the CI 3325 and CI 4332 requirements.

Students majoring in Music can apply credit for MU 3340 and either MU 3145 or MU 3147 or MU 3155 or MU 3157 or MU 3242 or MU 3265 to satisfy the CI 3325 requirement.  

Students majoring in Theater can apply credit for TH 4332 to satisfy the CI 3325 requirement.

To satisfy graduation requirements for teacher certification, students must have an Overall GPA of  2.75 or better, as well as grades of “C” or better in all courses within the Major(s), Teaching Field(s), Certification area(s), and/or in the Education Minor.
