Certificate in Health Administration
The Graduate Certificate in Health Administration is designed for professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge and leadership capabilities within the dynamic healthcare industry. This program, offered in in-person and online modalities, emphasizes a broad range of administrative skills and core competencies essential to healthcare management, while also exploring contemporary issues and emerging trends that shape today’s healthcare environment. With a focus on practical application, the certificate program offers a rich learning experience for individuals with professional and managerial backgrounds, to include opportunities for advanced insight into healthcare organizations, healthcare law, and other key areas relevant to effective healthcare administration. Graduate hours earned in this certificate program will count towards the MHA graduate degree if the student chooses to pursue a master's degree.
Students seeking a certificate in graduate healthcare administration must complete a fifteen-hour program of study with a 3.0 grade point average and no grade lower than a "C." The program of study consists of any five (5) courses offered for the MHA degree program in the School Health Administration, any modality.
Students must begin this graduate certificate program by taking HA 3308 (Healthcare Organization) in their first semester (can be taken concurrently with other HA courses).
The following courses are excluded from this graduate certificate program: HA 5111, HA 5191, HA 5199B, HA 5299B, HA 5399A, HA 5399B, HA 5450, HA 5640, HA 5840, HA 5999B.
Application Requirements
The items listed below are required for admission consideration for applicable semesters of entry during the current academic year. - official transcripts from each institution where course credit was granted
- 2.50 overall GPA or a 2.50 GPA in your last 60 hours of undergraduate course work (plus any completed graduate courses)
- resume/CV including relevant experience (volunteer, research, employment and other)
- statement of purpose indicating the student’s ability and interest in completing the certificate program in health administration
- two signed letters of recommendation from healthcare professionals or academics competent to assess the student’s interest in pursuing the certificate program
- GRE not required
Approved English Proficiency Exam Scores
Applicants are required to submit an approved English proficiency exam score that meets the minimum program requirements below unless they have earned a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or the equivalent from a country on our exempt countries list.
- official TOEFL iBT scores required with a 78 overall
- official PTE scores required with a 52 overall
- official IELTS (academic) scores required with a 6.5 overall and minimum individual module scores of 6.0
- official Duolingo Scores required with a 110 overall
- official TOEFL Essentials scores required with an 8.5 overall
This program does not offer admission if the scores above are not met.
