SCM 3301. Introduction to Operations and Supply Chain Management.

This course is a study of the various aspects of managing production and operations management functions in manufacturing and service organizations. Methods necessary for analyzing and solving related problems to design, operations, and improvements of the systems that create products and/or services in a global supply chain environment are investigated and emphasized. Prerequisite: MGT 3303 or MGT 3301 and [IE 3330 or ANLY 2333 or TECH 3364 or MATH 2328] both with grades of "D" or better and a minimum 2.0 Overall GPA.

SCM 4310. Transportation and Distribution Management.

This course provides an understanding of managing transportation, distribution, and order fulfillment to meet customer demand. Students will examine how these activities impact customer service, supply chain resilience, and firm profitability. The course will demonstrate the importance of aligning logistics processes with customer needs and train students to build rate comparisons, model total costs, and evaluate performance. Topics include carrier economics, selection, and the role of distribution centers in various fulfillment strategies. The course will also address current industry problems and trends. Prerequisite: SCM 3301 with a grade "D" or better and a minimum 2.0 Overall GPA.

SCM 4315. Purchasing and Supply Management.

This course examines the role of purchasing and supply management in organizational strategy and performance. Topics include the structure and functions of procurement activities, supplier sourcing and evaluation, contract management, negotiation processes, and cost analysis. Students analyze approaches to category management, supplier performance measurement, and buyer–supplier coordination within supply networks. The course also explores contemporary issues affecting procurement decisions. Prerequisite: SCM 3301 with a grade "D" or better and a minimum 2.0 Overall GPA.

SCM 4395. Supply Chain Management Internship.

This course provides an integration of professional and academic experience through an internship with an external employer. Foundational supply chain or operations management concepts are applied in an organizational setting to provide exposure to core supply chain practices. Under supervision, students reflect on workplace practices, connect them to theory, and develop professional skills such as communication, problem solving, and ethical decision making while clarifying their career interests in supply chain roles. Credit awarded as pass/fail. Prerequisite: SCM 3301 with a grade "D" or better and Instructor approval.

SCM 5211. Operations and Supply Chain for Leaders.

This course delves into the strategic management and optimization of global operations and supply chains, equipping students with the advanced frameworks and analytical tools to enhance organizational performance and competitive advantage. Students will investigate cutting-edge methods for designing resilient systems, driving operational excellence, and solving complex problems related to the creation and delivery of products and services in a dynamic global environment. Emphasis is placed on leadership decision-making, digital transformation, and sustainable practices across the end-to-end value chain.
